Here is a closing argument from Boston Legal attorney Alan Shore defending Melissa Hughes right to disagree with what her government is doing without being labeled, “Un-American”. Sounds real doesn‘t it? Melissa’s right, Alan argues, to free speech gives her the right to tell the government to stick it!

Alan sums it up quoting a speech made by Adlai Stevenson in 1952.

“The tragedy of our day is the climate of fear which we live, and fear breathes repression. Too often sinister threats to the Bill of Rights, to freedom of the mind are concealed under the patriotic cloak of anti-Communism.”
